Research Commercialization Advisory

Independent, governance-aligned advisory support for research-driven innovation.

Codispoti Group works with research institutions, Technology Transfer Offices, and faculty teams to help evaluate commercialization pathways with clarity and reduced institutional risk.

This work is advisory by design. It does not assume a startup outcome, does not bypass institutional processes, and does not involve product sales, licensing negotiation, or execution unless explicitly requested and approved.

What This Is — and What It Is Not

What it is:

  • Independent commercialization strategy and decision support

  • Early clarity around licensing, spinout, partnership, or deferred pathways
  • Risk and governance awareness before irreversible commitments are made
  • Advisory input aligned with institutional policy and TTO processes

What it is not:

  • A venture studio or accelerator

  • A push toward startup formation

  • Licensing or IP negotiation

  • Product development, fundraising, or execution services

How Engagements Typically Begin

Most engagements follow a disciplined, phased approach:

1. Commercialization Readiness Review:

A short, fixed-scope advisory engagement designed to clarify options, risks, and decision points before commitments are made.

This phase compares potential pathways (licensing, spinout, partnership, or waiting) and highlights decisions that may be difficult to reverse later.

2. Governance Aligned Support (When Needed):

When Technology Transfer Office involvement or procurement review is required, advisory work is explicitly aligned with institutional governance and policy.

This ensures clarity, preserves authority, and reduces downstream friction.

3. Conditional Deeper Involvement:

Only if leadership elects to pursue a defined pathway (such as a spinout or structured partnership), advisory support may extend to structure, sequencing, and risk alignment — always within institutional safeguards.

Nothing in this process assumes or requires a startup outcome.

Who Is This For?

  • Research leadership and Deans
  • Technology Transfer Offices
  • Faculty founders and research teams
  • Institutions operating in regulated or high-risk domains

Engagements are particularly useful where commercialization decisions intersect with regulatory, compliance, or long-term institutional considerations.

How To Engage

Exploratory conversations typically begin through research leadership or institutional contacts. Engagements are structured to remain optional, advisory, and aligned with existing governance processes.

Codispoti Group provides independent advisory services across regulated and complex environments, supporting decision-making where judgment and context matter most.
